Became the next Chairman in that year. Shortly after, a new generation
started to play its part on the Board with the election in that same year
(1929) of Frank Maurice Stevens, aged 26, and George Ralph Stevens, aged
28. 1931 saw the appointment of Stanley Eric Stevens, aged 25 (he was
in charge of the purchase and sales of seeds for many years) and Geoffrey
Carr Stevens, aged 26. Nothing of note seems to have occurred until, in
1942, the company was forced to move from Mark Lane because of Hitler's
bombs to Cedar Lodge, Bonehurst Road, Horley.

In 1945 John Kema Church became a Director. He had a particular love
for the company and was an enthusiastic salesman.
Following the retirement in 1948 of Mr. Dodsworth, Mr. Richard
Nightingale was appointed Secretary to The Bone Crushing Co. Ltd. and
Chemical Manure Co. Ltd. He served the Company, known as Fertilisers &
Seeds Ltd. It is an interesting coincidence to note that a Mr. James
Nightingale was a partner in the last century to the family's solicitor,
known in those days as Morrisons and Nightingale. This Mr. Nightingale was
our Richard Nightingale's great uncle. Morrisons continue to act for the
family today. Francis Hugh Stevens died aged 84.
